Photography in the Modern South: What does the "modern south" mean? For me, it means tradition with a twist. Think front porches, comfort food, bowties, nice manners...meets urban farming, pinterest projects, thrift store shopping, breaking the rules...and top it off with a little splash of "bless their heart." I live in Charleston (definitely the modern south), but am also available to travel worldwide.

Lowndes Grove Wedding: Hannah and Sean

I have been dying to show y’all this gorgeous Lowndes Grove Wedding from the beginning of this month with Engaging Events. Hannah and Sean lucked out with perfect weather for their outdoor ceremony, and its no surprise that I was a little teary when Sean got choked up as Hannah walked down the aisle! These two are so sweet and have known each other since they were kids, so all their friends and family were extra excited for them to tie the knot. Enjoy!

Founders Hall Wedding: Susan and Andy

Susan and Andy had such a sweet wedding last weekend at Summerall Chapel and Founders Hall! Two of my favorite moments: Susan’s processional into the ceremony being led by a bagpiper and their handwritten vows making a few groomsmen (and the rest of us) cry! Sand Dunes Club Wedding: Katie & Nick

Katie and Nick had such an amazing wedding last weekend at the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivan’s Island. (A wedding at the beach? Yes please!). I had been impatiently waiting for their day ever since their super fun engagement shoot (Nick had me laughing so hard I could barely breathe). These two are so at ease with each other, I could photograph them all day. We were fortunate to have enough covered photo spots to keep us dry earlier in the day when it was raining (yay for big porches!), and we lucked out with a gorgeous evening for some golden hour photos on the beach. Engaging Events did a great job designing a coastal reception space with lots of pink and lots of sparkle (a favorite combination with the munchkin at my house!). Enjoy and happy weekend y’all!

Boone Hall Plantation Wedding: Shannon & Michael

Despite the buckets of rain, Shannon and Michael had a gorgeous Boone Hall Plantation wedding last weekend! (This plantation holds an extra special place in my heart because I used to be a tour guide there in high school and college! Nothing like wearing a hoopskirt after school for work!) These two had such good attitudes about the weather that it put everyone at ease, and the lovely avenue of oaks provided some much needed cover to get a few shots without umbrellas. While editing their photos, I was so struck by the twinkle Shannon gets in her eyes when she looks at Michael…..seriously so sweet! Enjoy!

Patriots Point Wedding: Danielle & Chad

When I first met Danielle and Chad, I was struck by how ridiculously kind and thoughtful they are. (Ex: they made sure I went home with some cake from their rehearsal dinner!) These two are so in love with each other it made it a joy to photograph them, and their wedding designed by Elevents & Co had such fun elements: a paper flower wall (designed by Danielle’s grandma), a gelato truck, and fireworks!
