  • Charleston SC Wedding Photographer: Hi! I'm Aly Greer, a wedding photographer for Charleston and worldwide. I share love stories, wedding tips, and photoshop magic. I love my family, coffee, donuts and dogs! Do we have anything in common?

Photography in the Modern South: What does the "modern south" mean? For me, it means tradition with a twist. Think front porches, comfort food, bowties, nice manners...meets urban farming, pinterest projects, thrift store shopping, breaking the rules...and top it off with a little splash of "bless their heart." I live in Charleston (definitely the modern south), but am also available to travel worldwide.

Be sure to check us out on Facebook and Instagram to see the most up-to-date photos! Thanks for stopping by!

Nashville Engagement: Carrie & Ryan

This engagement session was so relaxed and personal…Carrie and Ryan did an amazing job planing something that reflected their personalities and things they like to do together. Plus, this couple is extra special…not just because they are friends of mine, but also because technically Carrie is the reason I met my husband! Carrie and I were friends in Charleston before we both made the move to Nashville a year apart. When I got to Nashville in 2008, I met up with Carrie and some of her friends to play frisbee…and met Hunter at that frisbee meet-up a few weeks later. 🙂  I first met Ryan earlier this year when we were talking about me possibly shooting their wedding. He is a great guy that makes Carrie laugh (as evidenced in the photos below), and I am so glad that these two found each other. Can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Atlanta later this year!

We started off the shoot in Carrie’s backyard on her vintage glider, which was passed down from her family. Isn’t the bright green color awesome? Wild Cotton Photography is a Wedding and Portrait PhotographerWild Cotton Photography is a Wedding and Portrait Photographer

Molly the dog was a little unsure about this whole photoshoot thing….

These two had also found a field that they wanted a few pictures in, and the sunlight there was amazing.

“Ryan, try putting your hands on Carrie’s face…wait, not exactly what I meant…” 😉

We then went back at Carrie’s house…where Ryan made an incredible pizza (I may need to get that recipe!) to finish up the shoot.

Nashville Baby Photography: Baby Meigs

Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with this lovely family…and cute baby Meigs! She turned 4 months this past week…and is such an adorable little lady!

Meigs and Charlie’s facial expressions in this photo crack me up! Still a little unsure about having a sibling. 😉

Amy Jones - Lovely indeed!!!

Charleston Engagement: Chad & Berna

Oh…I love Charleston in the springtime. (Well, truthfully I love Charleston all the time). But the azaleas and wisteria and window boxes just add to the loveliness. Chad and Berna will be getting married in October, so we met up in downtown Charleston for their engagement session earlier this month. We started off at 39 Rue de Jean and the surrounding area, where Berna and Chad go regularly. (Special thanks to Rue de Jean for letting us shoot inside!)

When Berna asked me if it was okay if they brought along their dogs for part of the shoot, I was so excited! Sully and Skipper quickly stole the show. 😉

Can’t wait for their wedding this fall!

Special thanks to Melissa for assisting! 🙂

2013: Year in Review

2013 was a crazy year! Being pregnant for every one of these weddings and portrait shoots had me praying against morning sickness in the early weeks all the way to waddling my way through my last wedding of the year at 35 weeks. From spring to fall, here are just a few highlights from some of the lovely weddings, engagements, and families I was fortunate enough to document….

And of course, the year’s grand finale was the birth of this little one (Clara Anne)….

…who will get her own blog post in the coming weeks! (This new mama is still getting my act together!)

2014 already has some fun weddings on the books…can’t wait to see what the year will bring! 🙂

Special thanks to all my second shooters…Alex, Megan, Kelly, Kristin, and Nhu…y’all are amazing!

Nashville Wedding: Lacey & Gairdt

I could not have chosen a better wedding to finish out my 2013 wedding season! Lacey and Gairdt’s day was beautiful, fun and romantic. It was obvious throughout the day how much their friends, wedding party and family cared for them individually and as a couple. Everyone in attendance was so genuinely happy to see them together that it made for an emotional and meaningful day.

The girls started off their day at J Bangs Salon in Green Hills. I have to say, the ladies there are not only talented at hair and makeup, but they are fast! They had everyone in and out quickly and looking amazing.

After hair and makeup, we headed over to Tap Root Farm for the girls to finish getting ready!

Love love love this shot of Lacey’s mom.

Lacey was such a gorgeous and happy bride!

And Gairdt was looking pretty good himself!

Oh how I love a fun group of groomsmen…:)

Lacey and Gairdt chose to see each other before the ceremony for a first look. (I *may* have teared up during some of the following photos…I blame it on being pregnant. 😉 )

Seriously. I am in love with these next two photos. The light, the bride, the happiness…gorgeous.

The reaction that every bride wants from their new husband:

The reception had some of the funniest toasts I have ever heard at a wedding….one of which included original songs!

Lacey and Gairdt…thanks for choosing me to document such a fun day. Best wishes for your new life together!
