  • Charleston SC Wedding Photographer: Hi! I'm Aly Greer, a wedding photographer for Charleston and worldwide. I share love stories, wedding tips, and photoshop magic. I love my family, coffee, donuts and dogs! Do we have anything in common?

Photography in the Modern South: What does the "modern south" mean? For me, it means tradition with a twist. Think front porches, comfort food, bowties, nice manners...meets urban farming, pinterest projects, thrift store shopping, breaking the rules...and top it off with a little splash of "bless their heart." I live in Charleston (definitely the modern south), but am also available to travel worldwide.

Nashville Engagement: Beau & Lee Ann

Although Beau and I had met several years ago playing frisbee with some friends, I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Lee Ann until the three of us grabbed coffee a few weeks ago. Beau and Lee Ann love to be outside, are planning to run a race together during their honeymoon (can we say dedicated?) and are an adventurous couple all around. Despite getting rained out on our first attempt at an engagement shoot, we ended up with a perfect day the second time around. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy!

Isn’t Lee Ann’s dog Newton the cutest? ๐Ÿ™‚

And of course, we couldn’t leave out the bling!

Loved spending a Saturday afternoon with them and can’t wait for the wedding in September!

Happy Monday!

Vendor Spotlight: Color My World Flowers

Happy Friday Everyone! It is time for a new vendor spotlight….and this time it is a Nashville floral designer whose work I am slightly completely obsessed with. I first met Katie of Color My World Flowers last October at a wedding I was shooting, and I was so impressed with her creativity and use of unexpected pops of color. I stopped by her house earlier this spring as she was preparing for a weekend of weddings (one of which I was shooting) to photograph her in her element….a room full of flowers! ๐Ÿ™‚

Katie was actually working on a bouquet for one of my brides (Sarah), and below is the finished product at the wedding! Um, can we say GORGEOUS?

Brides…if you are looking for a fun and creative florist in Nashville, you need to check her out! ๐Ÿ™‚

Charleston Wedding Photography: Lauren & Simons

Although I am not quite finished with editing this wedding, I couldn’t wait to share a few of my favorites from Simons and Lauren’s big day! This wedding was gorgeous, fun, and extra special for me because I was privileged enough to photograph two friends marrying each other.

We started out the day at Canvas downtown, and the lovely ladies there did an amazing job with Lauren’s hair.

Afterwards, we headed out to Pepper Plantation where both the ceremony and reception were held. Oak trees, oyster shells, barnwood, {and horses!}…. this place had southern charm down pat.

Simons looking handsome as always!

One of the {many} funny things about weddings to me is the way that guys spend their mornings, and the {complete opposite} way that girls do. ย Needless to say I haven’t met many brides playing corn-hole the morning of their wedding. ๐Ÿ™‚

Gorgeous.

I was in love with the back detail of Lauren’s dress!

This is by far my favorite photo at every wedding…watching the groom always makes me cry!

Simons might like to dance…just a little bit. Or he’s really excited to be married to such an awesome girl. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Such a fun day! Lauren and Simons, congrats to you both and thank you for letting me share your day with you!

Special Thanks to:

Kelly Dillon for being an amazing second shooter!

Lowcountry Wedding Films for being awesome (and for your video light!)

Salt & Light for your beautiful decor (and wedding coordinating). ๐Ÿ™‚

Charleston Wedding Photography: Simons & Lauren’s Portrait Session

Photographing friends is something that is so special to me. I had the pleasure of going to Clemson with Lauren, and have known Simons since…(college? high school?) I don’t know when. ๐Ÿ™‚ ย When Lauren asked me if we could do a downtown Charleston portrait session the day before their wedding, I was all for it. We wanted to do a few photos of Simons and Lauren together without them seeing each other, as well as a bridal portrait session for Lauren. Their wedding will be on the blog next week, so stay tuned for more photos of these two!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Nashville Wedding Photography: Sarah and Pat

Sarah and Pat met at Camp Marymount, got engaged at Camp Marymount…so it was only fitting that they get married there as well! This colorful wedding had so many amazing details that I had a hard time narrowing it down for a blog post. ย  I have gotten to know the two of them pretty well over the past year because not only did I shoot their engagement photos, I also photographed Sarah’s sister’s wedding last year. This family certainly knows how to throw a fun, colorful and beautiful wedding!

These shoes….I die. Sarah chose gorgeous Anthropologie heels to complement the blue accents in the wedding and we loved them!

I am slightlyย really obsessed with any flowers done by Katie Pollard of Color my World. Case in point:

Sarah wanted to incorporate her dog Maggie into the wedding (love!), and this little pup was such a sweetheart.

Sarah wanted to get some photos by the barn since she worked there during summers she was at camp. (There may have been a few goats lingering around that I had to chase away previous to these shots….Note: no goats were harmed in the making of these photos.) ๐Ÿ™‚

A very long roadtrip played a large part in Sarah and Pat’s relationship, so she created a map display of their trip at the entrance to the reception. It was incredible!

Gotta love a photo booth. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sarah’s bridesmaids surprised her with a choreographed dance that included all of Sarah’s favorite dance moves. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And my personal favorite part of any Gordon wedding? There is always clogging involved. Enough said.

Sarah and Pat, your wedding was full of color, laughter and fun…thanks for letting me share it with you!
